In 1997, Julie Beck asked her husband Bob Beck to build a wooden toy box for their oldest child. As friends asked for their own wood toyboxes, the Becks realized that they could start a business offering high-quality, beautiful toy boxes for children around the globe. They started Wood Creations, Inc in 1999 and since then have madea toybox for thousands of children.
The company's toy chests are built with 100% wood construction and don't use any MDF or particleboard. A wooden toy chest from Wood Creations is available in oak, espresso, cherry and bamboo finishes and has a satin finish not unlike a quality piano. Parents can also choose to have a name engraved right onto the side using high-quality 300 DPI laser engraving, available in a variety different fonts, which means that a toy box can become a treasured, personal family heirloom.
However, since Wood Creations realizes that their toy boxes will be used by and for children, the company takes all necessary safety precautions. The lid supports used on every wooden toybox sold will not allow the lid to drop, no matter what position it's in. Wood Creations has never received a complaint about the safety of its toyboxes -- ever.
In addition to its toy boxes, customers can also purchase a cedar chest or blanket chest from Wood Creations. The company offers an optional cedar base on its handcrafted toy boxes, so that customers can use them, even after the children have grown up.
Customers throughout the world have purchased a toy box from Wood Creations and the company has even shipped to Hawaii and Alaska. Although damages during the shipping process are rare, they do happen and Wood Creations happily sends out any replacement parts or even an entire toy chest if there's an issue. Customer service is priority one and many customers are surprised to have their phone calls answered personally, even on weekends.
Bob Beck was born and raised in Bismarck, ND and was a middle school band director before starting Wood Creations. He's involved in the music program at his church, plays keyboard in a local jazz band and enjoys tennis, camping, hunting and fishing. He and his wife, Julie, have two children.
