Location & Hours
The vision of the Manual Evans Scholarship Fund is to promote higher learning amongst those in our community by investing in their educational endeavors. Manuel Evans Scholarship Fund realizes that education is the "great equalizer," and that given an equal opportunity and access to post-secondary education, the future will be brighter for those within our region.
Dr. Manuel Evans received his education at Bolivia Elementary School and matriculated through South Brunswick High School in Bolivia, North Carolina, graduating with the Class of 1986. As a champion of education, he attended UNC-Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina, Fayetteville Technical Community College, located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and finally New Life Bible College, also located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It was here that he received an AA Degree in Biblical Studies, BA Degree in Christian Education, Master of Divinity, and Doctorate of Theology.
Dr. Manuel Evans proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1987 until 1997, during which time he served in the Gulf War.
Some of his notable achievements were:
Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Qualifications Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Non-Commissioned Officer Ribbon.
Dr. Evans was a gifted instructor, and encouraged many to seek higher education. He mentored, guided, and advised people of all ages. His dedication to God, his family, his church and his community was amplified in all he did.
This great man of God’s legacy will live on through his wife, Dr. Karen L. Evans, as well as his children: Cornell, Jasmine, JiQuea, Robert, Donte and Raymond. His mission will also be upheld by his sister, Andrena Harriel, his church, New Life Ministries, and community. He is greatly missed, but he will forever be in our hearts.
Our Board Members are thrilled to create the opportunity to assist in funding part of the candidate(s) education. This investment will start the candidate(s) towards their future in achieving their goals, future endeavors and dreams through furthering their education after secondary school. The board members are serious about education and will carry on the legacy of Bishop Dr. Manuel Evans.
