This guy is a mental case. The state failed to intervene at every turn to get him mental health help. So to compensate for their horrific failure and gross neglect, they are going to execute him.
Oh Florida. You keep it interesting. One minute you’re fixing your gun laws and abolishing daylight savings time and the next you’re back in the dark ages trying for some state sanctioned murder.
The jurors on the Casey Anthony case in Florida said they didn’t feel they had enough evidence to give a death sentence. Meaning, if they’d gone for a life in prison sentence they may have gotten a conviction. Instead she’s free.
If he were black, bet you wouldn't be calling him a poor mentally ill 19 year old. I'm a poor black mentally ill 24 year old. I've done a hell of a lot less than shoot up a school and been called a lot worse.
Everyone has different and equally simple answers. And it’s all of them. And it’s none of them. And it’s way more than them. And it’s certainly way more complex than all of them put together. Mental illness is a factor. Gun laws are a factor. Our judicial system is a factor. Our culture is a factor. Everything is a factor. There are SO many things that have come together in our country to create this perfect storm where this keeps happening over and over and over and everyone wants to oversimplify it on their own personal little soapbox. It’s not that simple. But we do need to change. So maybe we do need to start with one thing at a time. So stop fighting against each other and realize that the person next to you might not be wrong. It might ALSO be that. Let’s come together. That’s another of our problems. America....there is so little community here. Compared to every other place I’ve ever been on this earth I feel so isolated and alone in this country only. Work on that. Come together. Be a community. Only then will you have a fighting chance of fixing this.
I don't know how I feel about this. This kid is a kid. He had terrible traumas in his life. Yet, he chose to take others' lives. He is a child who was allowed to buy a killing machine and used it to hunt children. If it's the law in Florida, though, it's the law for a reason, yet it's not so black and white.
Kill him soon and the next pic the media plasters everywhere of him should be of his rotting carcass to hopefully deter others from mass murdering innocent school children.
MENTAL ILLNESS....this makes Rick Scott the one to blame. As well as Pam Bondi! You made laws easy for this disturbed young man to gain easy access to his fire arms. YOUR ACCOUNTABLE, stop trying to pass it,off on others.
I am so relieved to find that the top 2 comments are caring about this poor boy....and how he was failed too. More violence and killing is never the right response!
"It's not a gun control issue; it's a mental health issue.... which we will solve by euthanizing the mentally ill."
I just can't wrap my head around how killing this man could be considered the legally and ethically right thing to do. I would, however, be interested in hearing a statement regarding the AG's intentions from the Parkland students, who have provided us all with much needed wisdom and grace during this difficult time.
The death penalty is appropriate in cases like this, family annihilators, etc.
I do agree that the death penalty is barbaric and unfairly applied. I stand with the new victims who call for the ultimate justice.
