of course he will, as a life-long Democrat I did not vote for this guy. He literally told us he was going to raise all of our taxes and give all of the money to the public employee unions and to make the entire State a sanctuary for illegal immigrants! This is outrageous :(
Part of the deal with the .23 cent gas tax was the lowering of the sales tax, now this POS wants to raise it plus keep the .23 cent gas tax. Thanks all of you that voted for him!
#PhilMurphy has been in office less than three months and he's already applying more lazy-ignorant-democrat tax-and-spend BS instead of doing his job to REFORM the horrid/corrupt state budget, (no) thanks to all the morons who voted this one in. SMH
Oooooo! Didn’t even realize the taxes went down! This is just an article for all the butt hurt, righties to talk shyt! Give it a break! And for those of you wanting to move out, please pick up the pace, I need new properties to open up! Thanks
It may not be much of a raise but he did promise to raise taxes if he was to win election, this is just the beginning, hope you are all happy..can’t wait to move out of the next California...
Thanks to all of you "Christie pissed me off, so I voted for Murphy" folks. Now we're really gonna get BOHICA service from the tax man.
The sales tax was decreased because of the gas tax increase of 23 cents. Will the tax hike be eliminated? Of course not...the middle class is always the one bearing the brunt. The rich will get richer.
Keeping the sales tax at it's previous level is unacceptable. Legalize marijuana and let those revenues make up for the 4/10ths of a percent proposed sales tax raise.
Yeah from 6.6 back to 7 !!!!! Most people never even noticed it went down that little fraction . Pretty sure being back at 7 everything won’t be noticed either 🤪
Well that didn't take long. When Christie gave the Democrats the 23 cent gas tax in exchange for lowering our sales tax, I had said that once he was out of office the sales tax would be raised by the Democrats. I was against the gas tax and felt that Christe should have just held out for one year and let the democrats raise it AFTER he was out of office. They had been fighting with him for three years to raise the gas tax what was one more year going to do?
It doesn't matter though - the fact is that for all the outrage against high taxes it is obvious New Jerseyans LOVE high taxes. The proof is in November;s elections. Murphy, whose #1 campaign promise was to raise taxes beat Kim Guadagno, former Lt Governor under Christie, who ran on a platform of lowering taxes and was outspoken against the gas tax even though that went against Christie. On top of that no one in the Democrat controlled NJ Legislature who voted for the gas tax lost their reelection bid. Instead Jennifer Beck who was VERY outspoken against the gas tax lost reelection.
