Pardon her. I don't want to further discourage whistleblowers from exposing breaches of national or international law when we have a man with the mental capacity of a 8-year old presiding over the most powerful military and weapons known on this planet. So yes, pardon her and Snowden. This incoming presidency changes the game, it is not business as usual.
Exposing corruption shouldn't be a crime. The only reason that it is, is because the corrupt have established the laws to protects themselves.....
He understood the rules when he took the job. He raised his hand, signed documents saying he h understood the punishments. He broke his oath, he broke the law. He can do the time!!
Republicans are like "We love Assange" and in the next sentence "Snowden and Manning are traitors" Makes no sense.
"The material leaked included videos of the July 12, 2007 Baghdad airstrike, and the 2009 Granai airstrike in Afghanistan; 251,287 U.S. diplomatic cables; and 482,832 Army reports that came to be known as the Iraq War Logs and Afghan War Diary. Much of the material was published by WikiLeaks or its media partners between April and November 2010." How you can view this as anything other than treason is beyond me
Rebecca Reed, as a Conservative Republican, i don't have a problem with them releasing stuff to the public. We're supposed to have the right to know. The reason I call him traitor is because he went AWOL from the Army. If you desert your post, you are a traitor to your country. He does not deserve a pardon.
These people took an oath then violated this oath . Sold out their country now Snowden is hiding like a coward. If he feel so strongly about what he's done then face the consequences of your actions.
From what I have researched the stuff that she disclosed had nothing to do with Homeland spying or anything else having to do with Americans citizens. She released classified War time documents and highly sensitive communications between highly sensitive individuals. I feel for her and her family but that's treason.
He deserves to stay in jail. But really Yahoo News do you know the difference between a pardon and commutations? I will now quote two different sentences from your story. 1)President Barack Obama is seriously considering a pardon for former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning, according to a new report from NBC News. 2)A Justice Department source told NBC News that Manning was on the president's "short list" for commutations. There is a HUGE difference between a Commutation and a Pardon. A commutation reduces the times served, a pardon is a government decision to allow a person who has been convicted of a crime, to be free and absolved of that conviction, as if never convicted.
If military or classified secrets are such a huge deal and should be handled carefully then why isn't she sharing a cell with Hillary Clinton? I think he should get a pardon which Obama will never do. Where are the protections for whistle blowers in governemnt service and military?
