So the current Trump health plan is...
1. Reintroduce infectious diseases into America.
2. Strip millions of their health insurance.
Folks, folks. Calm down. Remember, we now live in a post-fact world, where "draining the swamp" means adding raw sewage and mutant crocodiles, and sound science policy means appointments like this one.
I say, go whole hog, and appoint Jenny McCarthy to oversee the CDC.
"Evidence-based medicine". Or, as we usually call it, MEDICINE. Dammit media, take some responsibility for your choice of words, it's your bloody job to deal in facts, not avoid hurting the feelings of misled lunatics.
By promoting fake science, he should be charged with the future murder of children who die because they were unvaccinated because of this nonsense. First he will strip the elderly and sick of healthcare and then now he is going after the children. There is zero evidence linking autism with vaccinations. Andrew Wakefield's fraud has been completely exposed and debunked. How can anyone believe this anti vaxxer scam?
This is a disaster! We will be back to the pre-vaccine era with endemic measles, diphtheria, pertussis, and polio. Children and adults will die. The alleged link between vaccines and autism has been debunked and discredited many times over.
I hope The Atlantic does not fall into this trap of legitimizing the illegitimate, normalizing the not normal. By saying this is "deeply troubling for proponents of evidence-based medicine" creates a binary where there should not be one. Like saying, 'troubling for believers in a round earth'.
Well, why not? He nominated an Attorney General who hates the Civil Rights Act; a Secretary of Education who wants to dismantle the public school system; a Chief of the EPA who thinks climate change is a hoax; a Secretary of Housing who thinks public housing makes people "dependent" upon government; and a National Security Advisor who shares fake news stories on Twitter.
At this rate, he could nominate "El Chapo" to run the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the only thing that would surprise me would be that Donald Trump would give a job to a Mexican.
"Proponents of evidence-based medicine...," are you sure you guys didn't just mean medicine?
At this point, it just feels like trolling. Maybe he's hoping the biomedical community will be so angry and distracted by this that they'll forget to criticize him on Price, ACA repeal, and everything else.
Science is based on facts, thus it is an enemy of the future administration. For the alt right facts are irrelevant and opinion is paramount!
